[ti: Catch Fire (Commentary)]
[length: 03:05]
[00:00.19]Girl this next song, holy smokes in a word
[00:03.97]It is hot, it’s called “Catch Fire”
[00:07.05]And this is not about hearts and flowers and romance
[00:10.44]This is about I want you and I want you now
[00:12.91]Yeah, I feel like if you could describe it in one word it’s just honey
[00:17.55]I feel it’s like molasses dripping
[00:19.40]I loved this song, I did not write this song
[00:21.98]One of my other favorite female writers in town other than Hillary
[00:25.86]Her name’s Natalie Hemby, everybody knows her
[00:27.88](Baggage Claim and all kinds of stuff)
[00:29.74]She just has this swagger when she writes that I think is so awesome
[00:34.88]And I’m, you know, in my late 20s and just, you know
[00:40.33]As a woman you sometimes just wanna go for something
[00:43.75]And you wanna lay it all on the line and I think as soon as I heard this song
[00:47.36]I was like this from the first lyric it’s like, “Alright, I wanna be that girl”
[00:52.21]Yeah, no, when I was listening to it I’m like, “Oh, okay”
[00:57.15]She’s just like give it to me and give it to me now
[01:00.85]And you know I was thinking maybe we’ll give people
[01:02.93]A minute to either like turn down the AC get ready for this song
[01:05.88]Maybe grab a glass of wine, uh
[01:07.54]But I did wanna talk to you about the fact you mentioned
[01:09.69]It’s co-written by, uh, Natalie Hemby and busbee
[01:12.32]And when I was looking at the songwriting credits on your album
[01:16.04]I mean it is a veritable who’s-who in country music writers
[01:20.58]That people dream of writing with
[01:22.25]Dream of getting to record one of their songs
[01:25.13]Uh, I mean we’re talking about Shane McAnally, Natalie Hemby, busbee
[01:27.94]Hillary Lindsey, Ashley Gorley, the list goes on
[01:31.08]So talk about the fact the I mean, these people are all a part of your debut project
[01:35.95]I’m again such a fan of songwriting and songwriters
[01:39.45]And living in Nashville you get just immersed into the songwriting community
[01:44.27]And I’ve gone to watch all these people play at the places like
[01:46.73]The Bluebird and the Listening Room and just fallen in love with their music
[01:50.51]And I fell in love with country music because of the song writing
[01:55.02]And for me, it was really important to make sure that every song could stand alone
[02:01.14]And is, and is a great song
[02:03.46]And just you know I’ve had the opportunity
[02:06.23]To sit right in the writer room with all of these people
[02:07.83]And I dreamt of that over the last, how ever many years I’ve been here
[02:11.13]And it’s just such an honor to have an album that I’m just so proud of the writing
[02:17.32]Not just the production or anything like that
[02:19.57]Just that these people were so kind as to
[02:22.42]Lend their creativity to my story and to my brand
[02:24.94]Well, I was gonna say I mean it says a lot about you as an artist and a writer
[02:28.13]Because I mean these people
[02:29.49]They’ve got writing appointments booked months and years out
[02:33.05]And the fact that as a new artist you were able to to get in a room
[02:37.39]And write these songs and record them
[02:38.65]Or have them give you some of their best work is fantastic
[02:41.69]And they’ve all become friends
[02:42.77]They all check in on me especially Shane and Natalie and Hillary
[02:46.78]They’ve all just been so kind to open their arms to me
[02:50.48]And are excited for what’s to come for me
[02:52.70]That is awesome
[02:53.43]Well I say let’s go ahead and play what can only be described as a sexy, sexy song
[02:58.37]This is “Catch Fire”, it’s off of Carly Pearce debut album
[03:02.37]”Every Little Thing” and you’re listening to Big Machine Radio
[03:04.16]Year of Release: 2017
