[00:00.00]This is the “Every Little Thing” album release special
[00:03.16]I am so excited to be talking to Carly ’cause it’s like talking to a girlfriend
[00:06.47]Just, you know, getting all the in and outs
[00:08.22]That I can’t get in anywhere else about this album
[00:10.48]And the next song is “Feel Somethin'”
[00:13.75]And the first thing I noticed about this song is the amount of words
[00:17.81]That you’re cramming into this verses
[00:20.03]Was this one a difficult one to sing?
[00:21.61]Because it’s not your traditional sing song steady rhythm
[00:24.97]So if you know anything about Natalie Hemby
[00:26.99]You know that she is just a phrasing queen
[00:29.99]And she knows, she just knows how to make things work
[00:32.90]And I, if you can tell from everything else in my album
[00:36.72]Come from a very country, bluegrass background
[00:39.73]Where I, my drummer’ll tell you, I sing way behind the beat
[00:42.98]And they kinda sometimes have to push me and go “C’mon, c’mon, catch up”
[00:47.45]And I felt like this song is just from a phrasing stand point
[00:51.14]Was a great challenge for me (yeah) to kinda step out of my comfort zone
[00:56.10]And do something that maybe is a little bit more difficult
[00:59.19]And, and really challenge for myself
[01:00.62]And I played this song for my mom when it was just the Natalie demo
[01:05.38]And I remember her reaction
[01:08.25]And she was like, “I know what this feels like”
[01:11.12]And just everybody I’ve ever played this for, it’s kinda like what you said earlier
[01:15.01]Uhm, the opposite, I think you said the opposite of love-
[01:16.33](Yeah, the opposite of love isn’t hate, it’s difference)
[01:18.80]Yeah, and to have somebody that you love, not give you anything back at all
[01:24.77]We all wanna see whether it’s fighting, crying, tears, laughter
[01:28.65]You want emotion out of somebody and the worst thing is
[01:31.04]You know there is a line and it says
[01:32.61]”When did you stop tryin’? When did I become so comatose?”
[01:35.55]And it’s like “Ah, it’s awful”
[01:37.10]Yeah, that was a powerful, powerful line
[01:39.28]Well and that, the thing for people who haven’t heard the song
[01:41.56]We’re gonna play it but I mean it’s basically about a couple
[01:43.88]From what I, it sounded to me like they’ve been together a while
[01:47.54]And they, there’s just almost not even a pulse in the relationship (yeah)
[01:51.08]Because they’ve just gotten so complacent, and
[01:53.53]So many relationships are guilty of that
[01:55.85]Whether it’s just like you stop trying to impress them
[01:58.17]You stop trying to care about how their day was
[02:00.61]You’re just, going through the motions
[02:02.66]You could almost set a clock to boredom of (yeah)
[02:04.95]What’s happening in the relationship, and
[02:07.03]I have a feeling a lot of people are gonna relate to this one
[02:10.78]Uhm, it is called “Feel Somethin'”
[02:12.95]And it is from Carly Pearce on Big Machine Radio
[02:14.99]Year of Release: 2017
